Mortality

The Patriots are mortal and would be 0-2 in their divison if Buffalo could have held on.

2.5 things I think I think

My shameless thievery from Danny's shameless thievery: & on the subject of thievery, I

1. concur with the distinguished gentleman representing the large video screen that when Kyle and the Brandon's take their North American tour, they are very likely to get abused. I suppose it's better to be lucky than good, because MAKE NO MISTAKE THAT's EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED ON SUNDAY.

2. really do think that the Terrible Towels will become the moist towelettes by week 17, due in no small part to their non-existent running game and the high likelihood of Big Ben getting hurt behind that line.

2.5 think that New England's systematic shedding of All-Pro's will catch up to them.

Another 5 Things...

1. Cincinnati is officially the unluckiest team in the NFL.
2. Brandon Stokely should buy a lottery ticket.
3. Jay Cutler really gets worked up, doesn't he?
4. Tony Gonzalez still has it.
5. Can Pittsburgh really have another successful season with no running game?

Bonus:
6. I can't believe this, but these are the official stats from week 1 (who would have thought):
Kyle Orton's QB Rating: 100.7
Jay Cutler's QB Rating: 43.2

I guess even Cutler knew that the team wearing green had the best receivers.

5 Fantasy Things I Think I Think...

1. For this week, anyway, anyone making fun of Stacy for drafting Drew Brees has to step back...

2. AP is the man... enough said.

3. Is this really the year that Santonio Holmes can overcome the Curse?

4. Speaking of which, now that Palomalau's down, Fitzgerald owners are holding their breath... the Madden Curse- oh, it's true....

5. At least Brett Farve has the self-awareness to poke fun at himself-- everyone see the new Sears commercial?

And a bonus that just came to me...

6. As long as Jake Delhomme is the QB of the Panthers, I made a huge mistake drafting Steve Smith....

Over/Under

Ok, so I've not been to the league board since the Steelers-Titans began,... so, for a little fun...

1) How many moves will Ric make in Week 1?

and, for a tiebreaker,

2) How many will he have made by the end of tonight's game?

So Danny...defend your 'Boys

I know my owner lost it a long time ago, but...

How do you guys in the big D explain spending a BILLION dollars building a football stadium that isn't suitable for playing football?

I think having a big screen TV 4920 times the size of a 52" is impressive, but seriously, 90 feet above the field? C'mon man.

Five Things I think I think...

To blatantly rip off Peter King, I thought I'd start a weekly... sometimes biweekly... occasionally monthly.... ok, whenever I get around to it column.

1. I think that, come November, we're going to start hearing buzz about how Brett Farve, after lots of soul searching and very little TV attention, has suddenly decided to consider playing again with the Vikings-- but only if their record is 7-3 or better.

2. I think that Roger Goddell will allow Michael Vick to play again.... if Vick promises to lie prostrate at his feet and spitshine his shoes with his tongue. (I'm not a fan of Vick, but come on- enough is enough....)

3. I think the decision to have the "ESPN Special NFL Under-Armour Player Aquisition Prime Time Special sponsored by Coors Light on the first night and Budwiser for the Rest" reaks of commercialization.

4. I think that Tony Romo splitting up with Jessica Simpson is a great thing for him- I've been thinking it's about time he tried on a redhead for size.

5. I think that, if you've not already committed to our Fantasy Football Draft Party, that you need to go ahead and sign up soon- good times will be had by all!

Is it football season yet?...

Quick thoughts early in the morning

Greetings, all. Just thought I'd make a quick post to say "Hi" and that I think the blog thing is a great idea. Life is hectic here as you can imagine with a baby boy on the way soon. Sorry I wasn't able to make the draft party. Anyway, the only real football related thought on my brain at the moment is this: Arizona and Cincy need to talk! Seems they both have receivers that are unhappy and want out, so why not just swap Chad OchoINeedMoreAttentionO and Anquain Boldin and both people get out and both teams get good receivers (although I'll admit that Cincy would be getting the better end of that deal). I'm just saying, makes sense to me. Later...

Friday Night Randomness...

Where do I begin? Well, hello to all of you. Here's to a great FFL season that can't start soon enough. (By great season, I mean that each of your teams contracts some sort of 5 month Swine Flu variant and I win the Big Prize in a walk)

Is anyone shocked that Manny being Manny = Manny being stupid? I wasn't. While on the baseball tangent, a little bit about Roger "Lie to Me" Clemens. This guy's worse than Mr. Female Fertility drugs. He actually said on Mike & Mike that he couldn't have taken steroids because they are dangerous to people who have heart problems. He then cited his brother and his FATHER-IN-LAW (?!) as examples. Take a moment and let that sink in...

As for basketball, another in-between football seasons diversion, I have little to add except that it seems somewhat inevitable that Lebron gets his ring. At least he's a much better SNL host than Kobe Bryant. Anyone else think that Kobe throws game 7 to avoid a week in Denver? Just saying, it wasn't "Kobe doin' work" that got him in trouble there.

As for football, it's a long time between now and any type of real football.

It's too early to tell anything much about any team, except that the Broncos somehow got worse on defense. I can assert that with clarity. Now granted, the Raiders will probably post between 4 and 7 wins this year and get made fun of on ESPN's Brett Farve NFL Live as much as anyone, but the bigger story will have to be the outstanding play of rookie RB Knowshon Moreno and the adjustment at some point of JJ Arrington and Correll Buckhalter to the linebacker position.

It's a dark time in Raiderland. This year's draft could have been different, but it wasn't. I keep checking... Anyway 7th overall pick DHB will probably play some on offense and 2nd Rd pick Mike Mitchell (from The Ohio University Bobcats - Intramural Flag Football honorable mention 2 yrs in a row) might see the field.

Enjoying the draft the most (probably) were the 49er faithful, all 7 of them, happy as can be that Michael Crabtree was given to them as a gift by the team on the other side of the bay.

Not as happy, the Iggles who in D. Jackson and J. Maclin boast two of the best special teamers ever to line up 1-2 at WR. Perhaps Andy Reid will contact Donte Hall about an opening at the slot position.

While I'm on the draft, I'm told the Cowboys stumbled in on day two and were able to get some solid people in place to sell popcorn at the new stadium.

The most exiting thing coming out of Bengals camp is that our long national nightmare is now over. Chad Whocarescinco will now officially have Ocho Cinco on the back of his jersey. It's going to be a long year in Cinci.

Finally, may I say that if I in any way might be able to financially support Mr. Urban Meyer's plane trip to South Bend, I am most willing and I can think of at least 11 SEC coaches who might join in this worthy cause. More of NCAA Fuseball next time.

Good night all.

First Post

Hey everybody, Mark here.

It's a long, long time between the NFL Player Selection Meeting (the draft at Garrett's house) to the beginning of football season.

Since the draft is over, I've had a little time to think. Usually such is reserved for excitement over Oakland's 1st round pick and how that pick will help the team, but not so much this year.

I really like it when the FFL leagues get started in the fall because for most of the time, from the Greatest League Player Selection Meeting (the draft at Danny's house) thru the end of the NFL season, everybody usually posts a message on the league board. When the season ends and Yahoo takes down the board, it's like we don't check in as much.

With that in mind, I made this board for the League. Basically, I'll make rants, er... posts from time to time and try to set it up so that everyone can do the same year round.
